solana accelerate apac hong kong event cover image

Solflare showed up strong in Hong Kong at Solana Accelerate APAC, onboarding users, activating hundreds of Shields, and sharing our vision for real-world crypto payments.

On February 11, the Solana Foundation debuted Solana Accelerate APAC in Hong Kong during Consensus, bringing together thousands of builders, policymakers, executives, and ecosystem leaders to discuss payments, institutional finance, DeFi, tokenization, AI infrastructure, and the evolving role of Solana across global financial markets.

For Solflare, Accelerate APAC was an excellent chance to introduce our vision to the giant market of the Asia-Pacific region and become a part of the region’s growing momentum.

Showing Up

As a signature sponsor, Solflare showed up in full force across Solana Accelerate APAC.

Right upon entering the venue, our striking yellow was noticed right away. Our booth stood just a few meters from the main entrance and right across from it there was a big Raposa coffee stand wrapped in Solflare colours.

Our booth quickly became one of the most visited spots at Accelerate. Throughout the day, builders, traders, founders, and ecosystem contributors stopped by to connect, ask questions, and get hands-on with Solflare products. The space was constantly buzzing with conversations.

At the same time, Solflare was present on the main stage, where we discussed our role in advancing real-world crypto payments. It was an opportunity to not only showcase what we’re building, but to share our broader vision for how crypto payments should evolve alongside the ecosystem.

Whether it was grabbing a coffee or having a break at the coffee stand, stopping by our main booth to explore products, or listening to discussions on stage, we were part of people’s experience right from the get-go.

Spreading the word

We had 13 Solflare team members on the ground in Hong Kong, focused on onboarding users and strengthening relationships across the ecosystem.

Our core message throughout the event centered on self-custody and hardware security. During the event we handed out and activated hundreds of Solflare Shield hardware wallets — onboarding existing users onto their new Shields and introducing new users to Solflare for the first time.

It was a hands-on onboarding experience. We walked users through setup, explained cold storage best practices and helped them understand how Solflare integrates hot and cold wallet experiences in one seamless flow.

Those conversations often turned into deeper discussions about security, UX trade-offs, and what users actually need from wallets in 2026.

Hundreds of conversations about what’s next

Beyond Shield onboarding, we spoke with hundreds of builders, traders, investors, founders, and community members.

The talks ranged from feedback on our wallet to potential partnerships, from payments to DeFi integrations. There was strong interest in how Solflare is evolving, not just as a wallet, but as a platform connecting payments, self-custody, investing, and real-world usability.

Events like Accelerate are less about announcements and more about listening. Hong Kong gave us valuable insights into how APAC users think about crypto adoption, security, and payments,  and how we can meet their needs.

Bringing real-world payments to the stage

One of the key moments of the event came when our Head of Payments, Mihajlo, took the stage to discuss the evolution of the Solflare Card into a “full stack” Web3 payment card.

Over 5 core money capabilities, Solflare’s goal is to build products that span all of them.

Users are gonna be able to spend all SPL tokens, not just USDC and also borrow USDC against the SOL they’re holding and be able to spend it. Also, users are gonna be able to earn yield on their idle stablecoins, and earn cashback on their spending with the Solflare card.

While crypto debit cards are no longer new, Solflare is pushing retail crypto usage further. This is an important step toward bridging on-chain assets with everyday payments, expanding how Solana-native tokens can be used beyond trading and DeFi.

One for the team

Events like Accelerate are not only a business opportunity. But also a teambuilding opportunity.

13 of our people from different teams were brought together to spread the word of Solflare and get us closer to our goals. It gave us a chance to get to know each other even better personally and also created time for alignment and brainstorming on new ideas.

Sometimes, stepping outside the day-to-day roadmap brings clarity that might get lost sometimes in the day-to-day. The trip helped us sharpen priorities, align on our vision, and strengthen the bonds.

Looking ahead

Solana Accelerate APAC Hong Kong was a reminder of why we continue to invest in showing up.

Markets fluctuate. But long-term builders remain visible and consistent.

From onboarding hundreds of users to introducing new payment capabilities, from strengthening partnerships to aligning internally, Hong Kong marked another important chapter in Solflare’s growth.

We’ll continue building. We’ll continue showing up. And we’ll continue pushing for self-custody and real-world crypto usability, wherever the ecosystem gathers next.
